The Wellsburg Fourth of July committee and Mr. Greg Cheeks are privileged to be bringing the West Virginia Vietnam Memorial Wall back to our celebration after a four-year hiatus and will be displayed on July 2nd and 3rd. The West Virginia Vietnam Memorial Wall will be escorted in to Wellsburg the morning of July 2nd with an opening ceremony the evening of July 2nd.
This mobile wall exhibits twelve panels depicting seven hundred thirty-two (732) West Virginians who were killed, held as POW’s and those listed as MIA’s in the Vietnam conflict. The wall last visited Wellsburg in 2014 and sadly 55 names have been added since with 18 of those from Brooke County. This list of brave West Virginians is a list of true heroes that gave their lives in Vietnam for their country and this proud state.
